A full cord of firewood is an amount of wood that fills a space equal to 4 feet high,8 feet long,  and 4 feet deep or 128 Cubic Feet.

What is the difference softwood and hardwood?

Softwoods are less dense and produce more smoke which is a better choice for outside use.
Hardwoods provide a longer burning and hotter fire which makes them a better choice for indoor use.
When using wood for cooking, we would suggest a hardwood.  Hardwood also creates less creosote build-up in your chimney.

What size is the wood?

All the firewood is cut into 16” pieces and then chopped into manageable sizes for all fireplaces.  The smaller sized wood that doesn’t need to be chopped is less than 5” in circumference.

What is the difference between inexpensive firewood and expensive firewood?

Inexpensive firewood is usually an unseasoned option.  It is typically harder to light, keep lit, and produces sparks and spit while burning.  An unseen result from the use of inexpensive firewood can lead to creosote build-up in your chimney.  More expensive firewood will ignite easier and burn longer, giving you a better value.
